CRPS/RSD From Escaping a Biting Dog
Goren, Goren & Harris has handled numerous dog bite cases that have lead to CRPS/RSD; perhaps that was why we were the first to diagnose CRPS/RSD in our client.
The woman, in trying to escape a pursuing dog that had bitten her, hopped a fence and fell on her left hand, arm and shoulder. A local doctor, in rural Michigan wanted to operate on the woman’s shoulder for a rotator cuff tear. Months after the injury, however, her hand was discolored. It was exquisitely sensitive to the touch and cooler than the other hand. She could not clench the hand into a fist.
When we heard of that array of problems, we recognized that she had the classic signs and symptoms of CRPS/RSD and suggested, before operating on her shoulder that she go to a world-class medical center. She did, and after being evaluated by a team of doctors, including a renowned orthopedic surgeon and an internationally known CRPS/RSD specialist, she was told she did not need surgery, that surgery could permanently worsen her condition, which was, in fact, CRPS/RSD.
Her case had originally been handled by another law firm that had pushed her to settle before a lawsuit was filed for a fraction of what we ultimately secured for the client after bringing a lawsuit.
